Prof Ajay Malviya

Prof. Malviya is Academic and Quality Lead for Trauma & Orthopaedics at Northumbria, one of the UK's pioneering centres for day case hip and knee arthroplasty. He first encountered enhanced recovery there as a trainee and has spent the fifteen years since, as a consultant, helping embed and refine it, publishing and presenting extensively on enhanced recovery and day case joint replacement nationally and internationally. He is Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland and Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University, with over 125 peer-reviewed publications. He is now extending the same philosophy to periacetabular osteotomy, which Northumbria is among the first units to perform as a day case. He sits on BOA Council and is Vice President of the British Hip Society.
